Ambrosia was considered the food of the gods in Ancient greek mythology and was thought to bring immortality. Closely related to nectar and elixirs, which were the drinks of the gods, ambrosia was considered an incredible form of sustenance as a healing and cleansing elixir, liquid, and medicine.
Now, we might not live in Ancient Greece, but we can certainly adapt this idea of ambrosia when it comes to smoothies. What better way to drink like the gods and goddesses than with an infused immortal elixir made with an incredible assortment of superfood ingredients.
Coconut-Blueberry Ambrosia Smoothie
Serves 2
2 frozen bananas
1 cup fresh blueberries
the meat of one Thai baby coconut
1 1/2 cup water
1 tbsp lucuma
1 tsp vanilla extract
10 drops vanilla stevia
goji berries, to taste
bee pollen, to taste
Blend first seven ingredients in a high speed blender until well-combined and smooth. Serve smoothie in a tall glass and top with goji berries and bee pollen. Sip as if it was the nectar of Ancient Greece and enjoy the rapture.
A superfood version of the drink of the gods that is best when shared;
I can drink to that.
